A Great Day At Ashcombe Park Bowling Club

I spent a lovely afternoon at Ashcombe Park Bowling Club with more than 50 bowlers trying to win the 'Inaugural Avery Shield.' The format was Australian Pairs and the competition turned out to be a very close affair with a 3 way tie at one point. The weather was kind too with lovely sunshine throughout the afternoon.

Congratulations to eventual winners Jan Matthews & Alan Cracknell and well done to Lucy Owens and John Whitlow who were runners up. Thank you Ashcombe Secretary Sue Bayntun for asking us to sponsor the day and her hard work in organising the event and we look forward to sponsoring next years competition.

Feeling Excited!

It may only be Monday as I write this diary but i'm already getting excited about going to watch my rock god music hero; 'Mr Gary Numan'. My wife is also pleased as she doesn't have to come with me because I have FINALLY found someone who shares my musical taste (thanks Jon Pitt, sorry it took 20 years to find you!).

In contrast from the highlight of his career when he sold out 3 nights at Wembley Arena in 1981, I am now watching him at a nightclub in Bristol.. (I console myself with the view that I am sure this will be a much more intimate affair). I'm also considering whether I'm too old to buy a tour tee shirt..?

Athletes Once Again Shine In Rio!

I know everyone really enjoyed the Olympics during August but I have to say the Paralympics has to be one of the best sporting spectacles you are likely to see. Some of the stories we are hearing from athletes who have put their life and soul into training to compete on this world stage are incredible.

I think the games were summed up by the Egyptian table tennis player without arms and playing with a bat in his mouth and serving with bare foot from ground floor level - totally amazing! What's more, Britain are doing fantastically in the medal table and are currently 2nd behind China!
