The First 3D Printed Home

A start-up company in San Fransisco claims they have successfully 3D printed a small home in just one day. Apis Cor are ‘the first company to develop a mobile construction 3D printer which is capable of printing whole buildings completely on site.’ Could this be the answer to the housing crisis?

The first printed building was a small but functional 400 square-foot, enough space for comfortable living accommodation. With the potential to last up to 175 years as the company states, it sounds worthwhile at the cost of around $10,000 (around £8155). The company looks to use their new crane style 3D printer to create homes around the world in the areas where they are most needed, at more affordable prices to improve living conditions.

The inventor of the new 3D printer, Nikita Chen-yun-tai, has big aims for the future of the company and is looking to start building in every continent including Antarctica. The company also says that when there isn’t enough space on Earth for humanity to live, they will be ready to be the first to start building on Mars!

Big Demand For Bungalows!

I thought I would do some research on what types of properties our potential buyers are looking for at the moment. Interestingly, the number of people looking for bungalows takes up the majority of our enquiries. Over the years I would say we have been entrusted to sell more bungalows than any other agent in Weston and in 2016 we successfully sold more bungalows than our competitors. So if you are looking for a bungalow to buy please make Averys your first call and more importantly if you are looking to sell we would love to hear from you. Our pre sale appraisals are free of charge at a convenient time to suit you. Call me on 01934 614893 or sales@averyea.co.uk

Yet Another 'Daren Disaster'

I have to say i've been pretty happy without my usually regular 'Daren disasters.' That was until last Sunday. I had been out on my bicycle and a couple of hours after returning I had an issue with my electric up and over door. All by itself the garage door was opening and closing at great pace without anybody controlling it. After half an hour of investigating how this was possible, I walked by our washing machine with all my cycling clothes being inside. At that point it dawned on me.. I had put my garage remote in my back pocket and on every turn of the machine it was causing the garage door to open and close! Mystery solved and even better the remote was none the worse for its swim. Hopefully this disaster is a one off – watch this space.

Trip to London

I made a visit to the big smoke - London last weekend. I can’t be alone in thinking it’s a lovely place to go and visit with so much to see and do. However, living there is a whole different matter. Why is everyone in such a rush? Pedestrians and cars, where are they all going?. I am sure the air quality is nowhere near as good as in somerset! I was in West London and the sky was a constant noise of planes either taking off or landing very similar to the M5 on a Friday in the Summer. I took the opportunity to take a look in one of the many Estate Agents windows and couldn’t believe some of the prices for what looked like inferior houses to those on offer in the Weston area.
I came back home thinking we really are lucky to live in the West Country!

February Already?!

So where did January go? Apparently the general consensus is that January is the ‘dragging month’, the month that crawls along and takes an age to progress forward. I can honestly say I couldn't disagree more, the weeks have flown by and that’s all due to the enthusiasm received from both buyers and sellers looking to make a move.

'Out with old and in with the new’ couldn’t ring more true within the Avery office at the moment, even our unpredictable weather hasn’t produced negativity, which historically can stall clients from actively looking to sell or buy. Long may it continue!

If you want to make a move – don’t delay, give us a call we might just get you moving!

Good Start to 2017!

I am pleased to report a busy start to our year. I noticed that Rightmove had reported last week that enquiries on their portal were up over the Christmas period (and up by 4% on Boxing Day alone) compared to last year. We are finding the same encouraging results, with large numbers of new buyers enquiring already this year and I have to say I am pleased to have spoken to a number of new first time buyers.

If you have not contacted us regarding your search for a new home, we would love to hear from you, either pop into our office, call me on 01934 614893 or email us on sales@averyea.co.uk. With enquires from buyers on the rise, it is even more important we hear from you if you are looking to sell. Our pre-sale appraisals are completely free of charge and we would love to get you moving in 2017.

I Think I’d Rather Be At Work!

Sometimes when you agree to do something you just know it’s not going to turn out well. That was certainly the case last Saturday when I agreed to go furniture shopping straight from watching Bristol City play.

All of those in know realise watching this football team is less than a pleasurable experience at the moment, so to go straight to the famous furniture shop in Eastville straight after the match was probably not the best timing.

So after spending an hour in the car getting to the other side of the city due to the volume of traffic it’s fair to say I wasn’t in a great frame of mind to look at bedroom furniture. Added to the fact that anyone that knows me will tell you that I hate DIY! So with pencil behind the ear (to feel more like a builder) I spent what felt like hours looking and researching to result in buying the sum total of a £3.50 storage box and a toilet brush! Got to say I have had better days!
